"Simple-n-Smart College Courses!" . . . Ways to "kick start" your "home-based" college!
"HERE ARE SOME GREAT LEARNING TOOLS WE USED WITH OUR KIDS. . .
AND YOU WILL WANT FOR YOURS!"
Let's start with a brief explanation:
Go directly to our "Simple-n-Smart College Courses" (formally "CLEP-In-A-Box") offers by clicking here.
When our kids finished their high school work, we realized that they
could "CLEP out" of college courses. So that's what they did. And
these are the materials we used to do it. These Standard Deviants
videos and REA CLEP Prep books (or when they're not available,
other resources we used) will help your students to master the
information needed to pass the specifically listed CLEP exam.
We now are putting together our own notes from our College Prep courses and making them available to you! Check out what was our very our first offer--College (CLEP)
Prep Notes For Introductory Psychology--which you can download right
from here.
[Go to www.collegeboard.org/clep
to learn more about these College (CLEP)tests.]
[If you want to learn how to have us do a College Prep Class in your town,
you might want to check out our website,
www.clepclasses.com too.]
As this school year continues, why not include some college level courses in your curriculum for your high school students? Include 2, 3 or even 4 or 5 college courses in your Grand Plan! Some of
these courses can be done in short order. Others could be used as
the final exam when your student completes that specific
subject (in Algebra, Trig, or Biology, U.S. History 1 or 2, Sociology, or Psychology, for example). The point is this . . . use the CLEPs to at least validate the high school course of study. And depending on where your child plans to go to college, that institution might even accept the CLEPs for college credit! (3,000+ colleges and universities in the U.S. do!)
And now there is a brand new idea that many of you may be interested in considering: Home-based College!
Just as a mental exercise (it's not meant to be used for a particular
student but only as an example), take a look at what a Grand Plan might look like using Standard Deviants, REA CLEP Prep books,
REA Super Review books, and other materials we used with our kids.
Just click
here to see our example Grand Plan to "double credit" through high school and accumulate college credit that could be transferred into a college like The Christian Institute.
And if you would like to learn more about The Christian Institute, click here.
PLEASE NOTE: As home schooling parents, we need to prepare
our children for being active participants "in the world." We are
exhorted to be "in the world but not of it." This demands that we
teach our children discernment. To us, it's much better to have our
children learning subjects like biology, history, social sciences,
and other subjects that will have a humanistic bent in the environment
of the home, than to get their first exposure to this stuff when they
go away to a secular (or even Christian) college or university!
Many homeschooling families are even questioning what the value is
of sending their children off to college rather than finding ways to
continue post-high school education at home. The fact is that in
today's highly sophisticated, information-age environment, viable
alternatives, such as The Christian Institute are becoming available to families who want to avoid
the traditional approaches to college. If you are of the mindset
that prefers that your children consider other home-based options
for college, at least temporarily, then we think you will find
the following offerings worth looking into more.
Take a look at our very special "Simple-n-Smart College Courses" offerings;
THEY INCLUDE 3 FREE BOOKS BY DR. DAVID NOEBEL!
Our Simple-n-Smart College Courses Specials are great for doing this! And to
top it all off . . . we are
offering a special opportunity for your student to learn college
subjects early, and do them in the context of the associated Biblical
Worldview material (where applicable), presented by Dr. David Noebel, one of the world's
leading authorities on learning from a Biblical Christian Worldview.
This is a great set of materials that your children (yes, and even
you) will just love! Even though the secular content of the Standard
Deviants and REA materials will challenge some worldview thinking,
they are excellent in content, AND
WILL PREPARE YOUR STUDENT ADEQUATELY FOR TAKING SPECIFIC CLEP TESTS!
And when combined with the 3 FREE books by Dr. David Noebel, they will
provide the balance your student needs to have in order to learn the subject
thoroughly from "both sides."
So take a look at the following
"Simple-n-Smart College Courses" offerings, and
get started on home-based college today as part of your
student's Grand Plan for this semester!
