Personalized Services

The homeschooling community is changing.

Not only do homeschooled students gain mastery of the "basics" of the "4 R's," reading, writing, arithmetic, and research; arguably, homeschooled students are learning their elementary subjects more quickly, and more efficiently than their public and private school counterparts. Many are completing high school at the age of 14, 15, or 16! (We know. Our kids did!)

Parents don't want their kids to jump right into college life at this age. It would be crazy to send a child off to college this early. Even local community colleges or private schools might not be smart, except maybe by taking one or two courses during the week. Many parents are concerned about what to do to continue secondary school, and we are recommending "double crediting" high school and college subjects. We suggest CLEPs, along with APs, DANTEs, as well as community college and university courses. A lot of these ideas will demand some planning and efforts on the part of parents and students alike. We are ready and willing to help homeschoolers who need extra assistance in putting together their children's "Grand Plan" or "College Plan."

Here are some new offerings that we think many homeschooling families might want to take advantage of from us:

1. On-line phone support for homeschooling parents and students.

We asked through our survey, and you responded. Parents would like help with basic homeschooling questions. They may be new at this, need help adjusting something, or in setting up their children's "Grand Plan" and/or "College Plan." So we are offering phone support. It's easy to do. Just call us. We will answer your questions, help you work through specific issues, or provide advice related to your specific situation. When you call, we will set up an appointment time (we'll start by setting aside an hour) to work through your "plan" with you and your student(s). We'll give you as much or as little time as you need. We just ask you to email us to set up at time convenient to you.

Our suggested value* for this service is $50 per hour. Upon completion of our session, we will establish your call's total suggested value* based upon the number of minutes that we are on the phone with you. We will then e-mail or physically mail you a summary of services and our suggested value* for the completed call.

*Suggested value is exactly like it sounds--the value that we are "suggesting" for this service. However, it is our policy to let YOU decide if the service is worth the price. Since this is a ministry, as much as it is a business, our policy is to suggest the price of our offering, but allow YOU to determine if the service was worth it--then simply make a donation for what you believe it was worth to YOU.

We have set up a special PayPal button for this at www.davidandlaurie.com/donate.html You will just go there and send us a payment using a debit or credit card, or you can mail us a check or money order if you prefer. Just mail it to us at P.O. Box 2133, Liverpool, NY 13089.

This allows those who can't afford our prices to still benefit from our services, and those who may think our prices are too high to pay what you think our services are worth. Those of you who believe in our ministry can also contribute (as you are led) to help make up for the potential lacks that may arise from our ministry approach.

Again, to donate, all you need to do is go to: www.davidandlaurie.com/donate.html or mail a check or money order to us at P.O. Box 2133, Liverpool, NY 13089, if you prefer.

We see this as God's way of providing through our ministry for us as well as all of the families that we serve. Thank you for allowing us this opportunity!

2. On-line e-mail support for parents and students.

Just as many parents wanted phone support, many also want e-mail support. In this case, we will do our best to prayerfully provide suggestions on specific topics that you may ask about. Obviously, it isn't as easy to put a value on the response to an e-mail. So we will price this service based upon the number of e-mails you wish to use during a month's time:

"Suggested Value for E-mail Support:"

Single e-mail evaluation: $5.00*

5 e-mails: $15.00*

10 e-mails: $25.00*

20 e-mails: $40.00*

Each additional e-mail over 20: $2.00*

[NOTE: The E-mails should be used within 30 days.]

*Indicates "suggested value"

To order a package of emails, send us a note indicating how many you would like to reserve per month in advance. Then send us a donation of your discretion to support our ministry by going to www.davidandlaurie.com/donate.html, or mail us a check or money order to P.O. Box 2133, Liverpool, NY 13089.

Our specific email address for this service is guidance@davidandlaurie.com .

We will attempt to respond to e-mails submitted to guidance@davidandlaurie.com within 24 hours. Our goal will be to answer in the most timely manner possible. Sometimes we may need to do some research or spend time evaluating specific materials in order to answer the e-mail appropriately. When this occurs, our ability to meet the time requirement may not materialize. Therefore, we cannot be held liable for delays in response. Additionally, we cannot be responsible for e-mails becoming "lost in cyberspace." Our remedy will be to respond to any follow up e-mail submitted by the subscriber.

E-mails may be purchased by a family or individual; we ask that any "donation" for this service be paid at the time of subscription, as we mentioned. We will provide an e-mail order form at the time that the e-mails are requested from us for you to use to confirm the order. You then just make a donation to www.davidandlaurie.com/donate.html . If someone emails us with a question who is not familiar with our ministry, we will respond to that specific email, and include an explanation of our services at that time.

3. Hourly phone sessions to assist in designing your "Grand Plan" and/or "College Plan" for student(s) to begin to "double credit."

This specific offering is meant to assist parents and their student(s) who want to design a high school "Grand Plan" or ""College Plan" roadmap. We will offer suggestions, assist in determining the sequence of courses, help with determining when "double crediting" may be appropriate, and will suggest coursework that might be useful in completing a specific level of work in a determined subject, among several things. The deliverable document is the "Grand Plan" or "College Plan" that will be provided through the parent to the student for his or her use. Our suggested value* for this service is also $50 per hour, chargeable in quarter-hour increments after the first hour is completed.

Once the hourly session is completed, we will send a notice by e-mail or regular mail indicating what was completed, and the suggested value of our services. Parents can then decide what donation to make for these services, with by going to our PayPal account, www.davidandlaurie.com/donate.html or sending us a check at P.O. Box 2133, Liverpool, NY 13089.

4. On-line forums.

This offering is being developed and will be available shortly to all students and parents who subscribe to any other services within the month of the subscribed service. Forums will probably also be available by membership subscription independently at a suggested value* of $10 per month per member. Keep looking for FORUMS . . . they should be available shortly.

To donate, go to www.davidandlaurie.com/donate.html or mail a check or money to us at P.O. Box 2133, Liverpool, NY 13089.

5. On-Site One-On-One Sessions.

When possible, if we meet you "on the road" at a conference, CLEP class, or other event, we will also provide on-site one-on-one sessions for parents and students to discuss your "Plan" needs and concerns. This will be possible at homeschool conferences and curriculum fairs, as well as where we will be teaching CLEP Prep classes and doing parents' workshops. We will arrange them by appointment on a first-come, first-served basis. If you know we are going to be in your area, send us an e-mail so we can arrange something with you.

On-site sessions suggested value* is also $50 per hour, chargable by the quarter hour after the initial hour has been completed.

6. Discounted CLEP Prep Classes.

A 25 percent discount applies to all CLEP Prep classes taken by an individual student during the same month that a student or family is subscribing to any of the above services. This applies to any courses offered that commence during the month in which fees are paid.

A Final Note . . .

Since this is all new to us, we probably will make some adjustments to these offerings from time to time. Some services may be discontinued and others added. All services are subject to change without notice. We hope that any adjustments will be positive and a blessing to our friends in the homeschooling and Christian education community.
